It’s Road Safety Week and this year’s theme is Be a Road Safety Hero.
Some of us that work with local government may have regular opportunities to do this in our work, but this year’s theme recognises everyone who helps to make our roads safer, support people after a crash, and places a spotlight on how we can all play a part in making journeys safer for everyone.
In particular, it has been awesome to see and acknowledge the roadworkers in recent weeks who’ve been doing everything they can to get Aotearoa moving after a series of devastating weather events.
Co-Lab plays a part through RATA that provides good practice roading and water asset management. This includes aligning
asset management principles across our councils, improving data quality to increase confidence in decision making by councils, and increasing the skills and capability of council people in this area.
